A Message from the Commissioner:
For those who don’t know me, my name is Rick Harker and I am the new Regional Commissioner and have been involved with Region 224 for the last seven years. I would like to start off by saying thank you on behalf of our board for allowing us to enrich the lives of the children of Region 224 through soccer.
Even though this is officially our off season there is a great deal of work taking place behind the scenes. One thing I would like to touch on is the huge success of our first Opening Ceremonies celebration in many years this last August. The entire program was spearheaded by our Player Liaison, Ms. Amanda Badilla, so if you know her or get a chance to meet her please congratulate her. As many of you noticed, all of our player uniforms this past season displayed a Herbalife logo and many of you asked for information regarding their products. Well, I am pleased to introduce Susana Holguin our regional Herbalife representative. Look for her in our main tent area for more information regarding programs she has to offer. Herbalife is a national sponsor and is committed to the AYSO mission. Another topic I would like to discuss is volunteers. AYSO Region 224 is a volunteer based organization, no one is paid and we are always in need of help. There are open board positions available, coaches and especially referees are always in high demand, as well as support positions including help with opening/closing ceremonies and picture day. If any one is interested please let us know through the “contact us” link on our Regional Website (www.ayso224.net).
In order to grow and improve our region, your input and suggestions are needed. We welcome the opportunity to review the way things are and improve the way we do business based on your ideas. I am asking this now to allow ample time to implement changes before the season starts. There are many ways you could present ideas to us: All official board meetings are open to the public and listed on our website calendar, send us an email through the “contact us” link as mentioned earlier, or speak with a board member in person.
I am excited about the season to come and anxious to see everyone during the regular season.
Sincerely,
Rick Harker
Regional Commissioner
